A new study from the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge on this subject has been published in the journal Nature. According to this, genetic decay and the rate of DNA mutations can be big reasons behind a long or short life. Studies show that long-lived animals successfully slow down their DNA mutations, which contributes to their longer lifespans.
