Pramod Madhwaraj Joins BJP : Â Udupi, Hours after resigning from the Congress, former Karnataka minister Pramod Madhavraj on Saturday joined the BJP in the presence of state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Significantly, Madhavraj, a former MLA and state minister, had tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the Congress party earlier in the day. After which there were speculations that he would join BJP.
Madhavraj on Saturday called on Congress state unit president D.K. In the resignation letter sent to Shivakumar it was written that “I regret to inform you that for the last three years, the condition of the Congress Party in Udupi district has been a bad experience for me, thus causing political suffocation and the fact

Madhavraj said that due to the circumstances in Udupi, he has reached a point where it has become impossible for him to continue in the Congress and do justice to the new post he recently got. In his resignation letter, he said, “Therefore, I have decided not to accept the post of Vice President of KPCC and tender my resignation from the primary membership of the party.”
On Friday, BJP MLA from Udupi K. Madhavraj was with Raghupati Bhat when he inaugurated the state’s first floating bridge over Malpe Beach. Madhavaraj, who hails from Udupi, had served as the Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.
