A letter has been issued on behalf of Raj Thackeray saying that from May 4, you should play Hanuman Chalisa in those places where azaan is done through loudspeakers. This is a social issue and not a religious one: Thackeray
Describing the issue of loudspeakers as social, Raj Thackeray said that people of all religions are affected by noise pollution. He has asked in the tone of the question that which religion asks to gather and sit in the middle of the road to block the traffic for worship?
The main reason for my statements to the Muslim community is that it is a social issue affecting the public. Please take note of this. Raj Thackeray warned that if steps are taken to make this social issue religious, then we can also give a befitting reply to it.
Thackeray had earlier given an ultimatum to the state government to remove loudspeakers from mosques by May 3.
